School-based Climate Action Teams

Schools are a fundamental institution in the daily life of students and should therefore be ground-zero for building students’ comfort, confidence and competence in bringing climate change solutions to life.

What is a climate action team?

Do you wish more students were engaged in creating solutions to the climate crisis in your school building? Why not start a Climate Action Team? Communitopia supports local schools in both the development and execution of running Climate Action Teams. Current Climate Action Teams have

  1. Planned, hosted and presented at the Pittsburgh Youth Climate Action Summit

  2. Tackled civic action projects at their schools and communities, such as planting trees and native gardens, installing stormwater management structures, and creating a plan to divert food waste.

  3. Run virtual webinars to raise awareness on climate change

  4. Planned climate literacy field trips to local destinations like Rivers of Steel Explorer Riverboat, SLB Studios and Pittsburgh Botanic Garden.

  5. Been invited to present at the Chatham University’s Seeds of Change Conference

  6. Much more is possible! Start a Climate Action Team and take action.

Let us help your team set goals, recruit members, and take real action to create a more sustainable future.
