Green Schools Conference

Communitopia and Woodland Hills Present at the Green Schools Conference

The Green Schools Conference (GSC) is the only event to bring together all the players involved in making green schools a reality: people who lead, operate, build and teach in schools. This year the Green Schools Conference will convene virtually over two half-days of programming, featuring inspiring keynotes, interactive education sessions and engaging peer group networking opportunities.

Communitopia and our partner, the Woodland Hills School District, are excited to present on day two of this year’s conference! Join us in this session to discuss the steps that the Woodland Hills Climate Committee has taken to create a climate movement within the district and share ideas for sustaining the movement. We welcome participants from current and aspiring climate-friendly districts to share their experiences and strengthen our ability to collaborate for solutions together!

Emerging Global Leaders Conference

The Future Is NOW!

EGLC.png

This year’s Emerging Global Leaders Conference honors the defiant, the hopeful, the dreamers, the disruptors, and the unapologetic young people who have had their voices stifled or silenced. All too often, young people are called upon to lead in the future, but young people around the world are reclaiming their time and asserting that the future is NOW.

Communitopia’s Lauren Palamara is excited to be presenting a workshop in the afternoon with student activist Sofia Khatiwada entitled Climate Change and Everyday Sustainability. Students will have the opportunity to learn about the simple science behind climate change, local impacts, and ways they can take action in their own backyards. Designed for students in grades 6-12, this workshop will increase students’ scientific literacy surrounding climate change, increase their motivation to take action on climate change, and provide them with opportunities to ACT immediately!

This workshop is for youth-only. Space is limited!
